By Chris Newman.
Traditional favourites and new compositions arranged for guitar by Chris Newman.
Published in 2001, this book contains guitar transcriptions (in normal notation and tablature) of some of Chris’s best-known pieces. Several of them, including the celebrated ‘Mathematician’, are to be found on his solo album, Fretwork. His carefully-worked fingerings and cleverly-designed preparatory exercises bring this wonderful music within reach of the intermediate-level player and will delight the more advanced player.
Chris is a revered teacher with a star-making record that is second to none: he was principal guitar tutor for Newcastle University’s Folk Music Degree course for 21 years since its inception, and several of his alumni are now established names in the UK and international acoustic music world.
In the course of his touring career with Máire and with Boys of the Lough, he’s given workshops and masterclasses throughout Europe, North America and Australasia. Some of his most-requested teaching material appears in this book.
