Song of the Harp for Harp Duet

Song of the Harp for Harp Duet

£3.50

This lovely tune was published by George Petrie in his Ancient Music of Ireland (1855) under the title ‘Melody of the Harp’ – a very 19th century translation of the Gaelic ‘Ceolta Cruite’. Máire changed the title to the more resonant ‘Song of the Harp’.

Petrie’s source was “A MS book of James Hardiman”. (Hardiman was an eminent folk-song collector, born c. 1782 in Westport, Co. Mayo).

The harp arrangement is Máire’s own and is suitable for intermediate harpists.

The piece was first recorded on Heartstring Sessions (Old Bridge Music OBMCD18), Máire’s 2008 album with Chris Newman, Nollaig Casey & Arty McGlynn – The Heartstring Quartet.

Available for download only. Choose the format you would like (A4 or US Letter) at checkout.

An arrangement of this piece for solo harp is also available for download.
